End of Summer Adventure

As beautiful coastlines go, Bigbury-On-Sea on the South Devon coast is right up there at the top of my list. I get super excited about planning weekend adventures trying to decide which paddle board to take, and the equipment I will need. I am a spontaneous type of person who needs little encouragement to grab my SUP board, escape to the water, and take in the sea air. There is no better way to get in touch with your soul.

September is an ideal time to enjoy the last-minute warmth of the summer before the darkness of winter and the cooling of the sea. On our arrival at Mount Folly Farm campsite, we immediately had a sense of relaxation. It’s the ultimate spot to admire the stunning sea views and surrounding Devon hills. If you fancy an adventure, as we did, you can paddle the estuary with the outgoing tide. As the weather and sea conditions were favourable, we paddled around Burgh Island followed by some SUP surfing. Whether you stand or kneel SUP surfing in the sea is lots and lots of fun, we all got very wet!

For those who fancy a rest from paddle boarding, Bigbury is also a perfect location to walk along the sandy beach, footpaths, or explore coastal trails. Sadly, we only stayed a couple of days, but you only need a small amount of time to embrace the sense of freedom that this coastline brings. With the sun setting spectacularly on the horizon, we reluctantly headed home.

SUP Buddies loves exploring beautiful places, especially ones we have never visited before. We continue to share the love, spreading awareness of the amazing benefits of paddle boarding, while inspiring everyone to share stories of their paddling adventures within our SUP Buddies Community.
